What four aspects should be paid attention to when installing flexible towline cables?

Aug 20, 2022

1. What is a flexible trailing cable?

Flexible Trailing cables are also called tank chain cables. They are usually placed in equipment units that need to move back and forth. Technicians often put the cables into the cable tank chain to protect them.

The cable can also move back and forth with the tank chain, so this kind of flexible drag chain cable is also called a tank chain cable, a drag cable.

The biggest feature of the flexible trailing cable is its durability! When the drag chain cable is in use, due to the poor quality or too general quality, it is easy to wear and tear the skin, which affects the regular use of the cable, reduces the production efficiency and affects the production progress.

In order to ensure the normal use of towline cables, technicians will develop flexible drag chain cables that are more durable than ordinary wires and cables! Because of its higher flexibility, its life is longer than that of ordinary cables, especially in the number of bends.

The highly flexible trailing cable produced by Henan Weld Co., Ltd. is insulated with special mixed nitrile butadiene PVC material and has excellent characteristics in bending resistance, oil resistance, wear resistance and waterproofing.

2. Precautions for installation of flexible drag chain cables

1)Reserve about 15% of the space when purchasing cables, so that the built-in cables and oil pipes are not limited by space, and there is no pulling force on the drag chain in the radial direction.

Wires with large diameter differences need to be laid separately, and their weights should be evenly distributed. If necessary, they can be separated by separators. When moving at high speed or high frequency, try to keep the wires separated from each other horizontally to avoid overlapping them. It is recommended to use separators when there are many cables, air pipes, and oil pipes.

2)Inner height: Select the thickest one among the built-in cables, air pipes, oil pipes  and water pipes as the reference height, plus at least 10% of the height space as the inner height of the drag chain. If it overlaps, the actual height after the overlap is used as the reference height.

3)Inner width: choose some thicker cables, air pipes, oil pipes, water pipes, etc., and the sum of their outer diameters is used as a reference for the inner width of the drag chain, and at least 10% of the width space is reserved.

4)Bending radius: Select the largest bending radius among the built-in cables, gas pipes, oil pipes, water pipes, etc. as a reference value, and leave more than 10% of the space.
