What are the reasons for the heating of the spiral cable during operation?

Dec 02, 2021

1. The conductor resistance does not meet the requirements, causing the cable to generate heat during operation.

2. Improper selection of the spiral cable will cause the conductor cross-section of the cable to be too small and overloaded during operation. After a long time of use, the heating and heat dissipation of the cable will cause heat generation.

3. When the installation is too dense, the ventilation and heat dissipation effect is not good, or it is too close to other heat sources, which affects the normal heat dissipation of the cable, and may also cause heat generation during operation.

4. The joint manufacturing technology is not good and the crimping is not tight, resulting in excessive contact resistance at the joint and heating.

5. Spiral cable has poor insulation performance between phases, resulting in low insulation resistance and heating during operation.

6. Partial sheath damage will cause slow damage to the insulation performance after the water enters, resulting in a gradual decrease in insulation resistance, and heating during operation.

After the spiral cable generates heat, if the cause is not found, the fault will be eliminated in time, and the insulation thermal breakdown will occur after the energized operation, which will cause the cable to short-circuit and trip between phases, which may cause a serious fire. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to maintenance and overhaul during normal use to avoid this situation.
