The outer conductor (shielding layer), the outer conductor of the coaxial cable has a dual role, it is both as a wire of the transmission loop, transmission low level, and has a shielding effect, the outer conductor usually has 3 structures.

(1) Metal tubular. This structure uses copper or aluminum strip longitudinal package welding, or seamless copper tube extrusion and drawing, this form of shielding performance is the best, but the softness is poor, often used for trunk cables.

(2) Aluminum plastic composite tape longitudinal lap. This structure has a good shielding effect, and the manufacturing cost is low, but because the outer conductor is a round tube with a longitudinal slit, electromagnetic waves will leak out from the gap, and should be used carefully.

(3) braided net and aluminum-plastic composite belt longitudinal package combination. This is developed from a single woven network structure, it has the characteristics of good softness, light weight and reliable joints, experiments have proved that the use of a reasonable composite structure, the shielding performance has been greatly improved, and this structure is widely used.
